next in our 12 x 12 series is this total fxcking peach of a collaboration made in 2002 by three peers with a mutual passion for the deepest, original nyc garage and house grooves. it’s the first time that longtime friends sprinkles and snd have used their collective handle you speak what i feel since an appearance on a comatonse 10th anniversary compilation back in 2003, and finds the trio at their deadliest, producing a deep-as-anything, peak-time doozy riding a strolling bassline, pointillist claps and effervescent chords for 10 minutes of swingers’ bliss.

the historical power electronic founders duo remixed by two of the infamous artists of this new industrial/noise scene. parrish smith, also know as sige bythos and volition immanent, already appeared on labels as nation, contort yourself and knekelhuis, made a smashing track, slow and heavy, distorted and electrically powered. black seed, already appeared on dtls snd and sign bit zero signed a syncopated track, with tribal influences and bouncing sounds that will turn your brain into a whirpool.

the next bleep release comes in the form of spaces debut ep, one. showcasing a wide range of styles and production talent, the ep opens with the frantic rush of beats and hushed voices of *apologies* before a reese-like bassline slices through the mix, coming across like a darkside snd remix. next up is *outside in* bridging the gap between edmx style electro-funk & gescom-style glitch. on the flip we are presented with *lever*, a broken techno track of the highest calibre, chopped snares and a off-kilter acid line whipped together to devastating effect while the ep’s coda, *in wait* combines a kaleidoscope of beats transported through an ambient techno mainframe before fading into oblivion. sounding like no other, this new artist makes his mark with clean rhythmic programming set against dirty compressed textures. the first in a series of releases, expect to hear a lot more from spaces. the vinyl edition is limited to 300 copies worldwide.

after a sustained period of enviable productivity, renowned producer mark fell arrives on liberation technologies to further carve out his own singular vision of leftfield electronic music. after reviving the snd moniker with long-term collaborator mat steel in 2008, and releasing a slew of singles under the sensate focus guise, it is here that the mind behind recent sound installation *64 beautiful phase violations* delivers his most visceral work yet, melding angular electronics and skittering rhythms into a sonic palette that is undeniably his own. treading an equally as distinctive path throughout their illustrious career, japanese experimentalists boredoms contribute their own vision of parts 1-7, an inspired pairing that is offered up in advance as a tantalising glimpse into the forthcoming record.

to commemorate the x anniversary of the festival electrónica en abril (http://festivalelectronicaenabril.tumblr.com ) born in 2003 at la casa encendida, madrid, we have invited some of the artists that left their personal and sound mark in our event, right now the oldest music festival in madrid. all of them have contributed with exclusive tracks to this double lp that does not pretend to become a scanner of todays electronic music scene, but just an insight to the quality and diversity of our festival.

all tracks are from tanakas archive (2010-2015), which were produced since he had moved his base in berlin. the idea of the dj mixing with only his own tracks has been gestating for sometime and with his trials during his dj dates in europe, south america and japan the selection of the tracks and combination has been made. the thought process of mixing his own materials could be similar to preparing for his own live set. this recording was done at this home in berlin. all tracks has been released on 12inch vinyl (snd 06.07.08 on 2017) except track 6.

dj diamond is 24 year old karlis griffin from the west side of chicago. he has been producing music since the age of 13 and djing since 20, heading the -flight muzik- clique of footwork producers. you might recall his two tracks from our -bangs & works vol.1- footwork compilation of last year. in addition hes also released several mix cds in chicago, but this, his first international album showcases his unique style of footwork music. dj diamond is a unique producer with his own distinct style and an unusual ear for unexpected sonic and rhythmic combinations within the footwork template. often he thoroughly edits samples into tiny trance-inducing, techno-like stabs. combining this with a penchant for neon synths and loose, broken drums (that are often more effect-laden and freeform than those of of his peers) and you have a sound which has an intriguing, deeper, dreamlike feel. the breadth and quality of his production is clear when you listen to this album. take opener -rep yo clique-s woozy drawling synths and tribal tom patterns next to -speakerz n tonguez- with it-s snapping snares, minimal, repetitive voice samples and martial, detailed drum work. then a track like -torture rack- which is like grime in outer space: a minimal bassline and some samples from a computer game, while a bass kick stumbles at half time, swarms of percussive detail giving it drama. its a brilliant exercise in wonky tension. the extraordinary -decoded- comes across like a kind of amalgam of trance and prog rock bombast at 160bpm while -wreckageÕs- high pitch saw noise is like a strange metallic bird-call, over light cymbals, gabba-like kicks and metallic claps. -digimons- harmonic microedits could even be an snd track transported to chicago. finally the albums closer -i choose you- rolls out over a heavily edited and processed soul sample, its drums rolling off at odd angles to almost seasick effect.
